CVR Testing

We are a registered, fully equipped CVRT testing centre . All CVR testing centres are governed by the RSA.

Quirkes Garage Limited CVR Testing

We are an authorised CVR testing centre for light goods vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tonne. All CVR Test Centres are governed by the Road Safety Authority. Commercial Vehicles are required to have a CVRT on an annual basis. The date of the CVRT is usually determined by the date the vehicle was registered in Ireland.

The CVR test is standardised and structured by the Road Safety Authority. Each test we perform follows a set routine, using specific equipment to determine the current working condition of your vehicle. This will result in the issue of either a Pass Statement (Pass) or a Test Report (Fail). You can test your vehicle up to 30 days in advance of its current expiry date.

How can I help pass my CVR test?

Ensuring your vehicle is regularly serviced and maintained is the key to passing your CVRT. This will help reduce costly repairs and multiple tests,  keeping your vehicle in peak condition. If you want to be sure to pass the CVRT why not contact us to arrange a pre test appointment and we can help make sure your vehicle is in test-worthy condition.

What happens if I pass my CVR test?

If your vehicle passes its CVRT, the certificate of roadworthiness (CRW) will be posted to your address within approx. 10 working days. The certificate usually covers a 12 month period from the expiry date of the last test (once all tests are up to date). If your vehicle is late for its CVRT the CRW will only allow for the remainder of time before the expected next expiry date (e.g. CRW expired on 30/01/16 but not tested till 05/03/16, expiry date of new CRW will be 30/01/17).

What happens if I fail my CVR test?

If your vehicle fails its CVRT, the Test report will detail the elements that will need to be rectified before a Re-Test is carried out. Re-tests must be carried out within 21 days of your original test date. Re-tests that involve the use of equipment will be charged at half the original fee, while visual re-tests are conducted without charge. If you do not return within 21 days of your original test, your vehicle must be submitted for a full test and the full charge applied. The re-test date is printed on your Test Report along with your retest fee information.
